Fun on the Carousel

While at the zoo we got to go on the Carousel. I think it was my favorite part of the day. Starboy and P. got on in the back while Coach and I and my niece E. stayed with the little kids upfront.

The above video of Princess's first ride on a Carousel with her Daddy and cousins is priceless. What fun!

A Cousin Weekend

This last weekend Starboy's Cousin P. that is just 8 days younger than him came and spent 3 days and two nights with us. We started out at the zoo with both our families enjoying a day with the animals.

This was my first time back at the Zoo since I was a kid. It was a fun afternoon.

The kids got to watch an animal show. They pet a snake, armadillo, and lizard. Starboy got to even be apart of the show. The video below shows him clopping like a horse.

After about 2 hours with both families there My niece E. took her two younger children home and P. stayed with us. The boys loved running around and climbing on different things.

On Friday the boys had tons of fun. They got to eat pancakes for breakfast, run through the sprinklers while jumping on the tramp and then go to Classic Skating Rink. They scootered for the first hour. The second hour I rented skates for all of us. This was the first time either of them had been on roller skates. They both fell down a lot, but kept trying. By the end they were doing pretty darn good. I really enjoyed skating, I had forgotten what a workout it was.

At night they slept in a huge fort they had created. They had so much fun preteding to be spies and using their imaginations. On Saturday after doing morning reading and chores we met P. mom and family at the swimming pool. Starboy loved jumping off the diving board and going on the waterslide. It was a great weekend.

17 Weeks and 4 months old

17 weeks. Princess had a fun week. She got all dressed up for her Daddy for Father's day.
This is a beautiful dress from Grandma H. She gave it to me at my baby shower. I had planned on Princess wearing it for her 6month pictures, but I don't think it will fit then.
Coach took her to his church classes. He sure is a proud Papa. She looked like a princess.

Princess had her first day at the zoo. We saw lots of animals and she got to be one of the ground hogs in this exhibit.

She rode in the camping backpack for the first time. Preparing for our two big camping trips coming up in July. She thinks it's pretty fun. and it seems like it will be sturdy for hiking.

Princess has learned to grab and hold onto things now, so that makes toys a lot more fun. We love all of the smiles and laughs we get. We are trying to make her do more tummy time so that she will eventually learn to roll over, but when you are this cute and cuddly who wants to put you down. Not us! She is officially 4 months old tomorrow.

16 Weeks

Amazing how fast the weeks go by. 16 weeks today. I call princess my chunky monkey! She has so many rolls, I think my momma's milk must be pure cream!

Princess loves to go outside and look around. She is getting better and better at sitting up. She sat in this chair by herself without falling over for about 5 minutes.

The funnest thing this week is how much she has begun to laugh. She laughs when rolling on the bed with Dad, playing peek a boo with Mom, but her favorite is watching her big brother dance. I even got it on video.. Enjoy!!

Beauty and the Beast

Last night our family got to attend "Beauty and the Beast" the musical at an outdoor theater here in town. My friend is the music director for the show and got us tickets. It had rained all day, so it was pretty chilly, but we decided to go anyway and just dress warm.
Coach used his poncho to keep Princess warm and dry.

We layed down a tarp and then put our blankets on top of that. Our tickets were general admission grass seats. It was quite empty because of the rain. We could see the whole stage. It did start raining about 10 minutes into the play, it poured pretty hard for about 20 minutes. They had to stop the show because the stage was getting too slippery, but their was sunshine over the horizon.

A large rainbow came out and about 15 minutes later after mopping the water off the stage they started the show again. Starboy's sleeping bad was soaked through and we were all a bit cold, but the show was really well done and fun to watch. Princess watched and enjoyed the first 30 minutes then I fed her and she slept the rest of the show. We didn't get home till almost 11pm. We were all glad to be warm and dry, and were ready to go to bed. Except for Princess who was ready to play since she had already had her nap.

15 Weeks

Princess is 15 weeks! Her personality is coming out more and more. She is very spunky and happy. She loves to smile and coo and talk to us. I like to pretend she's telling us fairy tales.

Princess had her first play group this week with a neighbor girl. We went to the park. Kiana is 6 months old. They had fun cooing at each other. They will have a lot of fun playing as they get older.
Princess sat with Dad at Beauty and the Beast at the outdoor theater. It was a little cold, but she didn't mind. She loved the music and the colors. She was completely enthralled by it all. She just might be my little drama queen! We were blessed that after the rain came a beautiful rainbow and the rest of the evening was clear.

Coach loves to do this bear story with Princess. Today they were out reading on the trampoline and I was lucky to catch it on camera. She sure loves her Daddy. It is fun having him home for summer break. She just grins when he walks in the room.

14 Weeks Old

14 weeks old! Princess is learning to play with toys. She swings her arms and follows them with her eyes when you move them. It is fun to watch her get excited about the different little toys.

Princess's favorite place to nap is still on her Daddy's chest, but now she takes up a lot more room.

Tummy time is getting easier as she gets stronger.<
She is starting to try and roll over, though she has not made it yet.

Princess is a finger sucker, namely her index and middle finger on her right hand. Sometimes it is just one finger, but usually it is both and she just chomps away.

I love to carry her in the Moby wrap this is the Joey hold and she can hold her head up very well. This is outside Aunt D. house we went there for a BBQ after my niece and nephew graduated. Princess loves being able to see everything that is going on.

First Week of Summer

We started the summer with the Summer Reading Program Sign ups at the library. Starboy and Princess each got a shirt. We had to be there at 9 a.m. to make sure we could get the right sizes and sign up for the program. You need to read 6 days per week From May 31-July 30 to qualify for the prizes. (We can read to princess, Starboy reads 20 minutes each day.) They have an adult reading program also. You must read 3 books and write short reviews and then you earn a T-shirt. Coach and I are signed up for that.
We spent time over at Grandma H's with Cousins. Starboy is getting really good at taking care of Princess. He is great at playing with his younger cousins and making everyone smile and have fun.

Starboy asked his dad to give him a summer buzz haircut, so Saturday night all those brown locks came off. He thinks it's fun to be bald, I don't mind in the summer, since then I don't have to worry about keeping his hair combed.

Monday, Starboy started summer school it goes 9-12 Mon-Thurs. They do fun activities like storytime, music, computers, art as well as reading and math. After school he wanted to do a project with the neighbor boy so they decided to paint rocks.

On Tuesday he decided to try and sell the rocks. I told him that most people probably wouldn't stop to just buy rocks, so we added lemonade to the sale. $.20 for a glass of lemonade and $.05 for a rock.

His friend from down the street came and helped with the sale. Splitting the earnings equally they each earned $2.12. We live right by a stop sign. I am always amazed at how many people stop. It was a fun activity. Some people even picked out rocks which made Starboy excited.

I worked hard to get this computer set up for Starboy to use this summer. It is set up out in the living room so I can assist him, and watch what sites he is using. The rule is he has to do 10minutes of math, science, or spelling to earn 10 minutes of playing games (lego Starwars, Sim Safari, Baseball etc) and there is a limit of 1 hr of computer time per day.
Starboy would much rather play with friends than work on the computer, but there are a lot of days when friends can't play, and he really will need to know how to use the computer as he gets older. I think this is a better alternative to T.V. watching everyday.

Yesterday we got to go to IKEA which is a Swiss store. Starboy played in smileland with my friends other children. We then went to the deli there Starboy and the other children got frozen yogurt cones that were very yummy, and I go their signature cinnamon roles. Warm and oh so delicious. After Ikea we got to go to my friends home to play and eat dinner. We didn't get home until 7:30. Coach had been at Lagoon all day with the 9th grader. His last day of school is today. Summer has begun and we are trying to have lots of fun!
